The Yamaha R-N2000A Network Receiver and NS-2000A floor-standing speakers create an audio setup that ... [+] could become a classic.

Yamaha has been making superb audio for decades. The Japanese industrial giant now offers audiophiles with analog aspirations and digital desires a brand-new pair of audio products in the Yamaha 2000 Series.

The Yamaha R-N2000A Network Receiver and NS-2000A floor-standing speakers create an audio setup that could become a classic. The R-N2000A network receiver merges Yamaha’s revered analog hi-fi sound, build quality and design with the latest digital, streaming and wireless capabilities innovations.

Meanwhile, the new speakers introduce a revolutionary design from Yamaha that brings patented technologies from the company’s flagship 5000 Series speakers at a new, more affordable price point. Yamaha says the two new products produce a breathtakingly beautiful sound while providing a wide range of audio sources essential in the digital age.

The Yamaha R-N2000A Network Receiver has a beefy toroidal transformer to provide plenty of transient ... [+] power to cope with dynamic music.

“We have a long history and a loyal fan base for our Hi-Fi gear, and the 2000 Series ushers us into a new age,” said Alex Sadeghian, director of Consumer Audio for Yamaha Corporation of America. “We designed a real, high-performance receiver, supercharged it with innovative technology, and paired it with a new generation of speakers. We made an impact in the Hi-Fi community three years ago when we introduced the award-winning 5000 series; today, the 2000 Series makes this extraordinary listening experience more accessible.”

The receiver and the speakers have been designed from the ground up to deliver what Yamaha calls True Sound. Yamaha says the profound musical experience offered by True Sound is so realistic listeners feel as if the artist were performing live in front of them.

The build quality of the Yamaha R-N2000A borrows heavily from the engineering used in the brand’s flagship 5000 Series pre-amp and amplifier, including perfectly symmetrical right and left circuitry, plus a floating/balanced power amplifier. The result is superior channel separation and signal-to-noise performance.

The Yamaha R-N2000A Network Receiver uses a ESS SABRE ES9026PRO Ultra DAC for handling all kinds of ... [+] digital sources.

In addition to the premium construction, the receiver has a full suite of Yamaha MusicCast streaming services – including Amazon Music HD, Apple Music (via AirPlay 2), Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz and many others – all accessible through a convenient smartphone app. The unit offers high-resolution, lossless sound sources via a Wi-Fi connection.

A high-performance USB-DAC function lets users get the most from their favorite high-resolution audio sources. At the same time, an HDMI ARC connection means the receiver can reproduce the audio from a TV. The receiver is also equipped with YPAO (Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer), which corrects the sound for differences in a room’s acoustics to create the ideal listening environment.

The design of the R-N2000A blends analog cool with digital convenience. It has illuminated level meters, crafted front-panel controls, and an understated digital front-panel display for quick reference of more detailed source and content data.

The NS-2000A floor-standing speakers use technologies taken from Yamaha’s flagship NS-5000 speakers and packages them in a three-way, four-driver configuration with a floor-standing form factor. Consistent sound is achieved over the entire frequency spectrum by using the same newly developed material for each driver, a blend of ZYLON and spruce. ZYLON offers excellent sound velocity and minimal internal dissipation, while spruce is used in the soundboards of grand pianos.

The speaker cabinet was designed for optimal dynamics using laser vibrometers used in instrument R&D and sophisticated FEM (Finite Element Method) analysis. Patented technology, such as the Acoustic Absorber and Resonance Suppression Chambers, have been used to ensure the music is vividly reproduced without the detrimental effects of excess sound-absorbing material. The NS-2000A also has an all-new cosmetic design featuring gracefully elegant curves and an exquisite piano-black finish that’s like the finish used in Yamaha’s grand pianos.

The Yamaha NS-2000A floor-standing speaker have crossovers that are built with high-end Mundorf ... [+] capacitors made in Germany. The cabinets are finished in the same high-end black lacquer used on the company's grand pianos.

Pricing & Availability: The R-N2000A Network Receiver costs $3,999.95 and is available in black or silver. The silver finish is available now, while the black finish is expected in late February. The NS-2000A floor-standing speakers will be available in late spring for $3,999.95 each.
